about the lovely sisters

Olivia and Jenny have been creating together since before Jenny can even remember. Probably the first voice in her head is Olivia, to be honest. At 4 and 6 they were designing cards under the company title their mother penned- March Lion. March for the Piscean Olivia and Lion for the July born Genevieve (Jenny). They sold the cards to the local art museum and collected a very small, but existing, commission. They bought and sold vintage bags, designed t-shirts, tote bags and mugs. And one day in 2009 after Jenny’s college graduation, both living at home with their mother and step dad post college they started the first iteration of Lovely At Your Side. For 6 years, across jobs and men and Olivia’s engagement, wedding and birth of her first baby they kept that website up, maintained and updated. They sent valentines, staged give aways and made friends. And then some horrible person took advantage of a mistake— Jenny had tried to move away from godaddy and in transferring the domain made a lapse and the website was bought out from under us. We pivoted to a new URL, but the magic was lost. In 2015 we retired out sweet old blog. And here is a crash course of what happened between then and now-

Shortly after the last post that went up on Lovely in July 2015 Olivia gave birth to her second son. She continued running her boutique social media business, now called March Lion Media. Her marriage ended in 2019, which gave her a really great, radical idea for a registry to celebrate life’s changes and support people through brave moments, from divorce to new jobs. This was the seed of a business she and Jenny would found together- Fresh Starts Registry. At the moment of publication her boys are 9 and 6 and very precocious.

Since July 2015 Genevieve has done…well honestly, a lot. She moved to Astoria with her then partner. Quit her job (tech events) in 2017, started a new job in high end wedding invitations. That lasted 6 months, she was miserable every day. She returned to tech events, freelance. She started coordinating for a Technical Director and got to help produce events like BlizzCon and HPE Discover. She got engaged. She planned a wedding. Covid hit. Her job went away and her wedding was cancelled. She started working with Olivia at March Lion Media. She planned and cancelled another wedding. She ended her engagement and moved out of Astoria one morning with a car filled with her stuff, and her father’s deceased cat (a story for another day). She moved back to Long Island and founded a company with her sister. At moment of publication she is spending 5 months in the UK.
